An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) records the electrical signals from your heart to check for different heart conditions.

The abnormalities I can check for include; different types of Tachycardias and Bradycardias, the former is a condition that makes your heart beat higher. There are three types: super ventricular, ventricular and sinus tachycardia. The latter is Bradycardia, this is a condition where the heart rate is deemed too slow. What’s considered too slow can depend on
your age and physical condition and in my experience much harder to detect due to exercise, specifically its correlation to Left Ventricular Hypertrophy, however this can be monitored safely here at “Toro Blanco” There are five Bradycardias; Sinus Bradycardia, Sinus Pause, Sick Sinus syndrome, Tachy-brady syndrome and Heart Block.

With exercise especially long-term Cardio Vascular exercise this has the possibility to change cardiac output and therefore how the heart pumps blood around the body. It´s always good to keep check of clients’ heart rhythms through out the year, to make sure I am doing everything within my power to see my clients are training in the safest possible way.
